On September 13, the annual HSE Day will take place in Gorky Park. This is an exciting event, open to people of all ages and backgrounds. Every year, the choice of activities becomes longer and longer. Find out here what’s on offer – there’s something for everyone.

The Russia-Uruguay match was shown on a big screen in the media courtyard, offering teachers, staff, and students at HSE the chance to cheer on their chosen side. Exchange students from other countries also joined in. Although the match was somewhat disappointing, the atmosphere in the media courtyard was celebratory and positive. On May 25, festival goers enjoyed music outdoors at the design factory ‘Flacon’ as part of HSE’s music festival. The festival has been running for 15 years. This year’s celebrations were carried out in style, and, for the first time, outside.

Applications for the Increased State Academic Scholarship open in May.  The main changes to the scholarships to be awarded this summer concern those for social achievements. Students receiving Russian government scholarships (quotas) are eligible to apply. Increased State Academic Scholarship is not applicable for students who pay for their tution.

The award ceremony for the ‘Iron Egg’ Student Award, which has recognized the projects that HSE students consider the most relevant and outstanding for 14 years, will be held at the end of the current academic year. Students will get a chance to vote online, first to nominate, and then select the winners.

Starting from June 30th, 2018, HSE undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students will be able to get their state scholarships only with their MIR cards. There are three ways to reissue the card, including getting a unique HSE-designed card. The main thing to remember is that, no matter which way you choose, you need to finalize everything by June 30th, 2018.

On February 16, the ‘Silver Archer’ prizes were awarded in Moscow. HSE Science Battles, a project designed by HSE students, made it to the top three in the ‘Technologies of the Future’ category. It was also judged ‘best project’ in this category by the student jury, and was awarded a special prize by Russian Venture Company, the category’s partner.

On January 25^th and 26^th, the traditional Donor Day took place at HSE. The building on Shabolovka welcomed donors from all over the university, and over the two days, nearly 200 students and staff members donated their blood. This is 40 more donations than last year.

Members of the student organization ‘Green HSE’ together with students from the Latvian Transport and Telecommunication Institute have won the annual ‘Climatron’ contest in the category ‘How to tell people about the circular economy’. This year the final round was held at the international exhibition of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation ‘Ecotech 2017’.

Student organization Green HSE organizes collection of clothing for recycling and charity. There are special boxes in different HSE buildings, where you can put the clothes you don’t need any more in order to give them a second life.  The campaign will run till December 13.
