The TikTok Tour: HSE University Students Popularise Finno-Ugric Culture
In early August, 30 students from all HSE University campuses set off on a journey as part of the Student Project Contest. Their project was called ‘T-T-T: A TikTok Tour of the Finno-Ugric Republics by Bus’. On their travels, the students learned about the local culture and made short educational and entertaining videos.

At the beginning of the new academic year, HSE launched a new mechanism to support student projects called HSEcoin.  The first phase of fundraising through this platform took place from September 13 to November 20. During this time, student projects managed to collect 5,069.14 HSEcoins, which equals more than one million roubles based on 2018 exchange rates.  Below is a summary of the first phase of the HSEcoin campaign.

HSE Gets Its Qwn Football Fanzone
The Russia-Uruguay match was shown on a big screen in the media courtyard, offering teachers, staff, and students at HSE the chance to cheer on their chosen side. Exchange students from other countries also joined in. Although the match was somewhat disappointing, the atmosphere in the media courtyard was celebratory and positive. Increased State Academic Scholarship: What Сhanges Can We Expect?

Applications for the Increased State Academic Scholarship open in May.  The main changes to the scholarships to be awarded this summer concern those for social achievements. Students receiving Russian government scholarships (quotas) are eligible to apply. Increased State Academic Scholarship is not applicable for students who pay for their tution.

Nomination of Candidates for the ‘Iron Egg 2018’ Student Award Now Open

The award ceremony for the ‘Iron Egg’ Student Award, which has recognized the projects that HSE students consider the most relevant and outstanding for 14 years, will be held at the end of the current academic year. Students will get a chance to vote online, first to nominate, and then select the winners.

How the State Scholarship Students Can Get an HSE Bank Card

Starting from June 30th, 2018, HSE undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students will be able to get their state scholarships only with their MIR cards. There are three ways to reissue the card, including getting a unique HSE-designed card. The main thing to remember is that, no matter which way you choose, you need to finalize everything by June 30th, 2018.

‘HSE Science Battles’ Receives Special Prize at ‘Silver Archer’ Award

On February 16, the ‘Silver Archer’ prizes were awarded in Moscow. HSE Science Battles, a project designed by HSE students, made it to the top three in the ‘Technologies of the Future’ category. It was also judged ‘best project’ in this category by the student jury, and was awarded a special prize by Russian Venture Company, the category’s partner.

Green HSE Received Grant for Development of Eco Education Project

Members of the student organization ‘Green HSE’ together with students from the Latvian Transport and Telecommunication Institute have won the annual ‘Climatron’ contest in the category ‘How to tell people about the circular economy’. This year the final round was held at the international exhibition of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation ‘Ecotech 2017’.

Green HSE Organizes ReClothing Campaign

Student organization Green HSE organizes collection of clothing for recycling and charity. There are special boxes in different HSE buildings, where you can put the clothes you don’t need any more in order to give them a second life.  The campaign will run till December 13.<br /><br />

HSE Celebrates Anniversary Night

HSE Celebrates Anniversary Night
On November 27, HSE celebrated its 25th birthday with Anniversary Night (because an average birthday party would have been rather dull). The celebration featured an entire array of different activities, and HSE students themselves came up with the evening’s programme. Anniversary Night began with the finale of the Research Battles, and from 8:00 p.m. onward, the grand ‘Night’ festival by Ingroup CTC continued. Results of Autumn Student Project Contest Announced

11 projects have been chosen as winners of the Autumn Student Project Contest. These student projects will receive financial and organizational support from HSE, and the initiatives will be implemented this year.

HSE Saint Petersburg Buddy Club Enters ESN

The HSE St Petersburg Buddy Club has officially become a section of the Erasmus Student Network (ESN). Today ESN brings together about 550 sections from 40 countries all over the world.
